Introduction to the Second Edition (Min Zhang, 2023)

As with the first edition, the aim of the second edition has been to update the technological aspects in this course, expand some sections and offer a slightly different personal perspective to hopefully enhance the course. Given that the course is offered on-line, I've incorporated video demonstrations to enhance the understanding of EMC. As the saying goes, "seeing is believing," and these videos are designed to fulfil that purpose effectively, helping to demystify the complex concepts of EMC for engineers. I am very grateful to Tim Williams for allowing me to make these revisions, and for his support in getting this work complete. I also acknowledge the advice and knowledge of many friends and colleagues over the years, including Keith Armstrong, Steve Berry, Michael Mayerhofer, Andrew Wechsler. Special thanks goes to RaJesh K R who helped review the standards part in this material. I hope the new generations of design engineers will find this course useful and the course will continue to provide the assistance and help to design engineers that the previous edition has done over the last decade.
